Greensky Bluegrass: New Album 'Shouted, Written Down & Quoted'
Like the band's own name, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is a collection of opposites, full of dark psychedelic swirls, bright bursts of acoustic guitar, soundscapes, solos, freethinking improvisation, and plenty of sharp, focused songwriting. It's wild and wide-ranging, showing off the diversity Greensky Bluegrass brings to every live show. At the same time, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is unmistakably a studio album, recorded during two different sessions — one at Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, North Carolina; the other at the Mountain House Recording Studio in Nedarland, Colorado — that comprise the band's longest block of recording time ever. The result is an 11-track album whose songs cast a wide net, mixing the full-throttle energy of a Greensky Bluegrass concert with the nuanced approach of a band that's still eager to explore.

Out of Nowhere, coming to KTAOS Pavillon 11/19
Out of Nowhere is a high-energy dance band of covers and originals, with influences that span swing, jazz, soul, funk, R&B, Latin, and blues. The line up is Elaine Nelson, saxophone and keyboard; Gary Yamane, or Barnaby Hazen, electric guitar; Rima Ralff, electric bass and backup vocals; Ray Vollmer, drums; and Beth Searcey, lead vocals. Together almost 2 years, the band’s goal has always been sculpting a show to make people feel good and move. As it happens, many audiences to date have found it impossible to remain seated through any given set. Along with an outlandishly eclectic repertoire, the line-up itself seemed an unlikely combo when they started.

Gene Wilder Dies at 83; Star of ‘Willy Wonka’ and ‘Young Frankenstein’
Gene Wilder, who established himself as one of America’s foremost comic actors with his delightfully neurotic performances in three films directed by Mel Brooks; his eccentric star turn in the family classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”; and his winning chemistry with Richard Pryor in the box-office smash “Stir Crazy,” died early Monday morning at his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 83.
